Running for the past six decades, Shri Datta Bakery was established in 1955. Located on FC road, this no-nonsense wood fired bakery is owned and run by Ashok Sarde.

The brown door that says Datta Bakery and the set up akin to a home is always filled with freshly baked treats. This legendary bakery is famous for its wheat biscuits, Khari that is perfect for brekkies, Potato Pattice and more.

Wheat biscuits here are prepared with 100% wheat flour mixed with pure cow desi ghee. They also offer Ginger biscuits made with fresh ginger paste and Coconut biscuits with coconut shavings. We tried ghee biscuit and freshly baked pattice at this bakery. Made with 100 % whole wheat flour and pure ghee, the biscuit is tasty and light. Made with white flour and stuffed with potato filling, the freshly baked pattice was amazing too. As they bake a limited stock of this pattice, the time slot for the same is around 8 pm.

Baking is not as easy as it looks from the outside since a lot of effort that goes into making these goodies often goes unnoticed. Shree Datta Bakery puts in extra hours to make sure the products are properly baked leaving no trace of moisture. This helps in not only keeping the bacterial growth in check but also extends the shelf life of the baked items.

Another interesting highlight of this bakery is that they don’t use any preservatives or artificial additives to their products. Their prime focus is using good quality ingredients, avoiding any adulteration and keeping the preparation process transparent.
