Authentic Mysore Flavours, Now Closer to You
If you’ve been craving authentic Mysore-style food in Pune, Mysore House is probably the closest you’ll get. Already a crowd favourite on Bavdhan Road, they’ve now opened their second outlet in Kothrud, making it even easier to get a taste of Karnataka on your plate.
Their focus is simple, stay true to authentic Mysore cuisine. But at the same time, they also bring in a few interesting twists that make the experience even better.
Mysore Masala Dosa, As Real As It Gets
Their Mysore Masala Dosa is easily the star of the menu. The dosa is crisp and golden, made just like you’d find in Mysore.
What makes it special is the in-house Mysore masala paste, made fresh with their own secret recipe. It’s layered with beetroot, potato sabji, and onions, then folded into a triangle and served with chutney and sambar. Simple, but done really well.
Plain Dosa with Sagu, A Rare Find in Pune
This is something you don’t see very often here. Sagu is a coconut-based curry, similar to a veg korma but lighter and more aromatic.
Served with plain dosa or idli, it adds a completely different flavour profile to the meal. You can also order it separately, and it’s definitely worth trying if you haven’t had it before.
Classic South Indian Comfort Done Right
We also tried a few staples, and they didn’t disappoint.
- Dal Wada, thick, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavour inside. Served with chutney and tamarind dip, it makes for a perfect starter.
- Ghee Podi Thatte Idli, A soft, large idli topped with podi and a generous drizzle of ghee. Served with chutney and sambar, it’s comfort food at its best.
Mysore Pak Ice Cream, Unexpected but Amazing
This was probably the most unique dish we tried. Their Mysore Pak Ice Cream blends chunks of Mysore Pak into kesar ice cream.
You get the richness of Mysore Pak along with the creamy texture of ice cream in every bite. It’s something you don’t expect, but it works really well.
The Final Word
Mysore House is doing a great job of bringing authentic regional flavours to Pune, without overcomplicating things.
Whether you’re someone who loves South Indian food or just wants to try something new, this place is definitely worth checking out, especially now that it’s opened in Kothrud too.
