Winter in Pune is at its peak with mercury going below 10 degree celsius almost every day! With the temperature dropping, every Punekar is waiting to get their hands on Hurda. For the newbies, Hurda is young Sorghum millet roasted on an open fire and is supposed to be enjoyed with other winter delicacies like jaggery, ghee, curds, chutneys, etc!

Hurda Mahotsav organised by Hotel Shreyas is an annual affair that Puneites look forward to every year. This year, Hurda Mahotsav is happening between 13th January and 15th January’23 at Cygnus Hall and Sinori Lawns located on Satara Road. That assures a beautiful open air family experience starting from a glass of sugarcane juice and ending on a high note of typical Marathi delicacy ‘Gulachi Poli’.

This festival over 3 days is nothing short of a village carnival as it has activities like Village Huts, traditional cooking on Chulha, traditional games like Sagargote, lagori, etc., traditional village attire photo booth with Nau-Vari Saree, etc! All three days will have live clay pottery workshops conducted by potters of Pune.

The main attraction is of course the unlimited food varieties at this winter carnival called Hurda Mahotsav organised by the legendary Shreyas Hotel. The large spread will include Fresh Hurda with 8 accompaniments, fresh sugarcane juice, Kanda Bhajji, Kolache Pohe, Baingan Bharta, Jowar Roti, Pithala, Marathi style Kadhi, Moong Khichdi, traditional Metkoot Bhaat with ghee and Gulachi Poli!

We strongly recommend you to call in advance and book your tickets since it tends to get crowded on all 3 days and organisers stop entry on such occasions. To avoid any such disappointment, call them on 8380096528 or 9422014330 and book for all your family members.
