For a restaurant that has been serving biryani for over 30 years, Pathik Biryani House remains surprisingly unexplored for many Pune foodies. Located in the industrial heart of Pimpri, this no-frills establishment has quietly built a strong customer base.
With over 7,700 Google reviews and a 4.1-star rating, Pathik has clearly earned the trust of generations. What is more remarkable is that this 200-seater restaurant serves one thing — biryani. On my visit, even a Tuesday afternoon lunch saw the restaurant packed with customers.
No Fuss, No Frills, Just Biryani
There is nothing fancy about the place, and that’s precisely its charm. The Chicken Dum Biryani is served with their signature pink raita, which gets its distinctive colour from beetroot, along with a bowl of gravy.
Priced at ₹350, the portion size is generous enough for two people to share comfortably, making it one of the better-value biryanis in the city.
Long Grain Rice Done Right
The rice is the first thing that catches your attention.
Long-grain rice cooked in dum arrives fluffy and well-separated, with every grain retaining its texture. The biryani is mildly flavoured. It is neither aggressively spicy nor excessively oily.
Rice Verdict: 8/10
Tender Chicken and Balanced Masala
Where Pathik truly excels is its meat and masala. The chicken is properly cooked in dum and remains tender throughout. The masala is well-balanced and flavourful without overwhelming the palate. Rather than relying on excessive spice or oil, the biryani focuses on clean flavours and proper cooking techniques.
Meat & Masala Verdict: 10/10
The Final Verdict
The only area where the biryani falls slightly short is the meat-to-rice ratio. While the plate comes with two large pieces of chicken, they feel insufficient for the generous quantity of rice served.
Meat : Rice Ratio Verdict: 6/10
Despite that, Pathik Biryani House delivers an honest and value-for-money biryani experience. If you’re willing to venture into PCMC’s industrial belt, you’ll discover one of the region’s most underrated biryani destinations.
