A Bar That Actually Has Something for Everyone
Finding a place where everyone in your group is happy is rare. Some want cocktails, some want craft beer, and some still prefer their classic quarter or nip system. This new bar in Baner, Machindos, somehow manages to bring all of that under one roof. Located on Baner Pashan Link Road, it’s probably one of the only places in Pune that caters to all these preferences without compromising on quality.
Cocktails That Actually Stand Out
The cocktail menu here is where things get really interesting. We tried Brush and Brine which is a Kokum cocktail, which is gin-based and uses pure kokum concentrate. It’s tangy, slightly spicy with hints of chilli and coriander, and very flavourful.
Then there’s the Cucu Sate which is cucumber gin cocktail, which is easily one of the most refreshing drinks you can have in this weather. Light, crisp, and cooling, it’s the kind of drink that doesn’t feel heavy and is perfect for long conversations.
Another unique one was their Calm Theory which is a chamomile cocktail, where they make the chamomile syrup in-house. That freshness really shows in the taste, subtle, smooth, and very different from your regular cocktails. As the name suggests, the chamomile really calm you down.
From Craft Beer to Quarters, They’ve Got It All
What really makes this place different is the variety of drinking options. You’ll find craft beer from Great State, a strong cocktail menu, and also the option of ordering quarters or nips. It’s rare to see all three styles co-existing in one bar so seamlessly.
Food That Matches the Drinks
The food menu is carefully and meticulously crafted by Chef Vaibhav who has finalised the menu after many many trials. You can see his vision and preferences in each and every dish. The detailings is simply amazing! We tried their Arbi fritters, Arbi is Taro Root or Colocasia, which were crispy on the outside and soft inside. They’re served with sriracha mayo topped with in-house curry leaf oil, which adds a very unique flavour.
Another highlight is their Pizzettes, basically small-sized sourdough pizzas. This is such a smart concept. Instead of committing to one large pizza, you can try multiple flavours. We had the Goan Chorizo Pork version, paired with a hot honey dip. The spicy chorizo and sweet-spicy honey work really well together. Plus, you get two on a plate, making it perfect for sharing.
Ambience That Sets the Mood
The space itself has a strong vibe, bold earthy colours, dim lighting, and neon elements that make the bar counter stand out. It’s the kind of place that feels lively without being overwhelming.
The Final Word
Machindos is one of those rare places that manages to balance variety, quality, and affordability. Whether you’re going out in Baner for cocktails, beer, or just a casual drink with friends, this place covers it all.
