In a quiet commercial building in Viman Nagar, there’s a small takeaway-only bakery doing something you won’t find anywhere else in Pune — a Bacon Cinnamon Roll. And yes, it’s exactly as indulgent as it sounds.
Dark and Brown is run by a duo — Ishaan and Karan. Ishaan is the man behind the baking, with a solid background from ITC WGSHA and a diploma in baking from Lavonne, Bangalore. Karan handles the business side of things, making sure everything runs smoothly.
Now coming to the star of the show — the Bacon Cinnamon Roll. This isn’t your regular sweet treat. It’s a soft, buttery cinnamon roll layered with that classic sweet-spiced flavour, paired with savoury, slightly chewy bacon. And just when you think it can’t get better, it’s topped off with a generous layer of cream cheese that ties everything together beautifully. It’s rich, it’s indulgent, and honestly, something you have to try at least once.
Each order comes with three portions, which makes it perfect for sharing (or not).
The bakery works a little differently though, there’s no seating here. It’s strictly takeaway. You need to place your order at least a day in advance, and then either pick it up the next day or have it delivered to your place.
Apart from the bacon cinnamon rolls, they’ve got a solid lineup of other items too. We tried their custard Berliner, and it was honestly out of this world — soft, filled generously, and just the right amount of sweetness. Their bombolini and cakes are also worth trying if you’re placing an order.
Dark and Brown might be small and tucked away, but what they’re doing is seriously unique. If you’re someone who enjoys experimenting with flavours or just loves a good dessert, this one definitely deserves a spot on your list.
