When you visit Indic Inspirations, a lounge store near Passport Office, Koregaon Park Annexe, Mundhwa, it is like walking into an experience centre!A store where India’s traditions, culture, heritage and achievements are narrated through the many wonderful and interesting collectibles, souvenirs, and gifts.
This store is indeed a cultural startup that was born out of the need to represent India’s glorious heritage. It aspires to narrate stories of India’s culture, history, traditions, and scientific achievements through its Indic Inspired objects.
Founded by Sunil Jalihal and Padmaja Jalihal, Indic Inspirations endeavours to empower India’s artisans, heirloom makers, and local communities.
“This store is “India’s first art and culture “Phygital Store” – Scan & Pick, e-shopping to give a seamless experience between online and offline store purchases. Here, visitors can soak in the stories of India and its traditions, culture, heritage, and achievements through the videos, story cards, and Indic objects that represent them,” he adds.
It is a pleasure to spend time in the store, soaking in the rich heritage and creativity that India has to offer.
The store has special names coined for different collections like STEM | Shunya Collection – Objects that tell the stories of Zer0, India’s biggest gift to mankind, HOLISTIC LIVING | Yoga Tools – Meditation & Yoga Mats made from various natural fibres like Darbha Grass, Cotton, Water Hyacinth, Banana Fiber, etc.
What caught our eye were two unique collections, one called the INDIA | The Republic that has objects are drawn from India’s Flag and India At 75, Indic Inspirations in the 75th Year of Independence. The collection includes authentic and unique Indian Flags, Constitution Preamble plaque, Duties and Rights of citizens – printed on hand-made ‘Constitution Paper” that was used to print the original Constitution document.
“Did you know that the constitution is a work of art other than a legal document. Nandlal Bose and his 40 of students illustrated every page of the constitution and also a hand written manuscript. It was done on handmade paper made in pune at the Handmade Paper Institute and the paper is still called constitution paper,” prompts Sunil, telling the story to the visitors.
Then there are the unique caps with the Indian flag, the wooden box charkha aka the spinning wheel, symbols of modern india frame, a desk clock with two Indian flags as fantastic gifting ideas.
Besides this, yet another collection is VYOM | ISRO Collection – Official merchandise that tell the story of India’s Space Program; stickers, souvenirs of ISRO’s rockets, yaans, ground stations, landers, rovers, antennas, etc, which truly attract visitors.
“On a search to narrate stories of India’s Institutions of Eminence, Indic Inspirations is now the proud merchandiser of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Sunil shares, “We approached them to let us tell their stories through collectibles, memorabilia, and souvenirs. And we are proud to have signed up as ISRO’s First Registered Merchandiser as ISRO created a Merchandising program as a part of their Capacity Building Program Office,” added Sunil.
