Shrutika Raut, a 26 year old powerlifter has made the city proud by bringing in four gold medals in Asian Powerlifting Championship held at Istanbul, Turkey. She was part of a four woman team from Pune’s G99 Fitness Academy that has won 24 gold medals for India.

Pune-based coach Girish Binjwe said, “With tremendous willpower and focussed training, Shrutika Raut, won four gold medals in the 25 plus age group weightlifting 405 kg.
Shrutika, a resident of Satara road got into fitness and gym in 2018. While doing her exercises, the trainer at her gym, Multifit on Satara Road, the trainer realised that she could lift heavy weights, hence trained her. This personal training proved successful when she won a gold in National powerlifting championship and a bronze in Asian Championship in 2019.

“In 2019, I played my first international. I train with Mohanish Rajiwade sir and workout in 3D gym at Mukund Nagar now a days”, Shrutika added.

“While training I can lift upto 157.5 kg in squat, 82.5 kg in bench and 170 kg deadlift, which lead me to win in the International competition in Istanbul,” said Shrutika. “My dream is to qualify for Commonwealth games and do my country proud,” said this computer engineer who loves powerlifting.
