Mostly at all Ramadan iftari stalls, hygiene is an issue and also serve beef. We present to you Masala Times, which is perfect for hygienic Iftari and avoid beef in their kitchen. And by far this is the only restaurant in Pune to be serving the most hygienic Iftari and which also avoids beef.
The holy month of Ramadan is here, and Iftari is the most important meal of the day. After fasting for long hours, people look forward to a wholesome and satisfying spread in the evening. However, many people often worry about hygiene, reused oil, and the quality of ingredients used at seasonal Iftari stalls. For non-Muslims, the presence of beef or buff at some places can also be a concern.
One place that addresses both these issues beautifully is The Masala Times.
Hygienic Food, Freshly Prepared
At their Camp outlet, we were impressed by their focus on cleanliness and quality. Unlike many Iftari places where food is fried in bulk and served throughout the evening, here every item is fried fresh upon order. This makes a noticeable difference in taste and texture.
Another highlight was that the food was not overly spicy or oily. The flavours were well-balanced, making it enjoyable even for those who prefer milder food. The service was quick despite the rush, which added to the overall experience.
A Feast of Delicious Dishes
Our Iftari spread at Masala Times included a variety of mouth-watering items like Russian Cutlet, Chicken Triangles, Mutton Samosas, Chicken Cutlet, Chicken Satay Sticks, Cheesy Shawarma Bites, Butter Chicken Bites, Mutton Shami Kebabs, Chicken Oriental Popsicles
To go with the food, we had a chilled Rooh Afza milkshake with sabja seeds and watermelon pieces. It was refreshing and perfectly suited for breaking the fast.
Ramadan Special at Kausar Baug
We later visited their special Ramadan outlet at Kausar Baug, located on the main road of the Ramadan market. This outlet has been opened especially for the season.
Here, we tried their Mutton Dalcha with rice and Khichada — both comforting and flavourful dishes that are perfect for Iftari dinners.
To end the meal, we had their Cream Caramel. Unlike regular caramel custard, this version is eggless and made with fresh cream, giving it a rich and smooth texture. It was the perfect sweet ending to our food trail.
An Inclusive Iftari Option in Pune
What truly makes The Masala Times stand out is its inclusive approach. They do not serve beef or buff, making it a comfortable choice for a wider audience. Combined with their strong focus on hygiene and freshly prepared food, it becomes one of the most reliable Iftari options in Pune.
If you are looking for a safe, clean and delicious Iftari experience this Ramadan, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
