Sea food is no joke and Goans take it to their heart when it comes to the quality and freshness of fish! Being in Pune, such good seafood kitchen is a rarity and homely Goan food was almost missing (except for the fab Cafe Goa in Viman Nagar) and our search for homely Goan food landed us at Shantadurga in Sahakar Nagar!

Gems are are found where you least expect them to be! That’s exactly what we felt right after the first bite of Bombil fry! Run by a young Goan couple along with a few ladies, Shantadurga is a seafood kitchen in Sahakar Nagar with a small 20 seater setup. Homely, clean and fresh food is all you can expect without any frills. If ambiance is something that matters to you, then you better take-away or get the food home-delivered.

Coming to the good (food) part, a typical fish thali here would be fish rawa fry that’s fresh and flaky, goan kolambi curry, solkadi, sukat and steaming rice! The fish here gets 10/10 since freshness is the key and preparation is perfect to the T.

All the popular and favorite fish like Pomfret, Surmai, Bangda, Bombil and Prawns are on the menu in fry, curry and thali format. Jitni bhook hai vaise order kar lo and Be sure of not getting disappointed at all!

Curries, bhakris and fish fries are all cooked fresh by the lady owner and other female staff after you order and so the homely feels. The Goan curry that’s oil-free has the nuttiness of fresh coconut and pungency of garlic. Curry mixed with rice and a little bit of solkadi (that’s how Goans eat), the curry tastes way too amazing. Add a bite of fresh fish fry to it and you are transported to a beach in Goa right away, just a beer is missing!

Visit the place for its simplicity, freshness and the warmth of Goa it carries. Great food is cherry in the top!

Shut on Mondays and festivals.
