Sai Paranjape herself has been a professional Bharatnatyam dancer for 30 years. She says, “The integral part of a classical dance is the costume and jewellery which makes each dance style different from other”. Back then, dancers had to procure all the costume and jewellery requirements from different states. Bharatanatyam attire had to be ordered from places like Thanjavur, Kathak attire from Banaras or Lucknow, Odissi attire from Orissa and so on. This used to be quite tedious work and even heavy on the wallet! There had to be a solution for all this, and this is where ‘Leheja’ by Sai Paranjape came into existence.

With in-depth knowledge about fabrics, patterns, style, jewellery and accessories all products are made and sourced with her expertise. The costumes are designed and made according to the needs of each classical dance form. High quality and traditional fabric material is used accordingly as well. On the other hand, all jewellery pieces and accessories such as Maang Tika, Kambar Patta, Ghungroos etc., are sourced keeping in mind the authenticity of the dance style. The costumes are stitched in-house and can be altered according to the size requirements.
