Just about an hour away from Pune, in the quiet hills of Pirangut, lies Creamery by Yellow Slice — a beautiful cheese factory where artisanal cheeses are crafted from scratch. And the best part? We are planning a visit there soon, and you can join us for this unique experience.
This isn’t your typical factory visit. Think of it more like a relaxed evening in the countryside where you get to explore how cheese is made, taste fresh cheeses, learn about pairings, and enjoy a specially curated grazing table. And for this upcoming visit, there’s something even more exciting planned — fresh Mango Cheesecake made using fresh mangoes which will be made that day only and only for that day! This is going to happen on the 4th of April and very limited spots are available for this special event. Call 09075002233 to book your spot for this special event!
The story behind Creamery by Yellow Slice is inspiring. It all began when Salil Ranade and his wife started making cheese at home as a hobby with a very modest home setup. Over time, people began to love the quality of their cheese and what started as a small passion project slowly turned into a full-time venture. For years they operated primarily within the city, supplying their cheese mainly B2B while also running their first outlet on Karve Road. During this time, they acquired land in Pirangut with a long-term vision — to build their own dedicated creamery where cheese making could truly be treated like an art. Years of patience, planning, and thoughtful design have gone into creating this space. The result is a stunning structure that looks more like a Spanish or Italian countryside mansion than a factory. What’s even more impressive is that the entire property runs on solar power, making the creamery largely off-grid, environmentally responsible and sustainable. Every detail of the place reflects the passion they have for their craft.
For those visiting, the experience begins with a walk around the property and a look at how the creamery operates sustainably. Guests then get to see the cheese-making process up close — during our visit we saw a fresh batch of mozzarella being prepared. The tour also takes you into their aging room, where large wheels of cheese are stored at temperatures below 10°C to age slowly. You’ll see varieties like cheddar, gouda and parmesan aging beautifully, each developing its own flavour profile.
The experience ends with a cheese pairing session followed by one of the most enjoyable parts — the grazing table, where guests can taste a range of their cheeses with thoughtfully paired accompaniments. Some of the cheeses we tasted included Parmesan, Mozzarella Nodine, Black Pepper Cheddar, Cranberry Queso Fresco, Thyme Gouda. Personally, the standout was the sweet cranberry cheese spread, which they made specially for the event (unfortunately, it’s not sold otherwise!).
On 4th April, the creamery will receive a fresh harvest of mangoes from their farm, and they plan to prepare fresh Mango Cheesecake for everyone attending the event. Imagine freshly cut farm mangoes paired with fresh in-house cheese, enjoyed in the peaceful hills of Pirangut during sunset — it doesn’t get better than that. Spots for this experience are very limited, so make sure you book your spot in advance if you’d like to join the visit.
