Review:
Riteish Deshmukh has cracked the code of delivering commercial mass films in the Marathi industry with back to back blockbusters with Lay Bhaari and Mauli. Now he is back with ‘Ved’ to rule Maharashtra all over again as the star and director of this mad love story.

The film starts on a cricket ground where Bhaskar Anna’s (Ravi Raj Kavde) men have bribed the umpire into letting them win. Then comes to the rescue, a literally washed away drunkard, Satya (Riteish Deshmukh), who with his antiques helps them win against the might of Anna. As we move forward we are introduced to his lost love Nisha (Jiya Shankar) and how he has been waiting for 12 years for her to come back. Will she ever come back or will he die drinking forever is how the film goes forward.

The story is as simple as it gets which is why the film kind of loses its charm midway to the interval and somewhere in the second half just before climax. Riteish Deshmukh lives upto his Mass image yet again. Genelia does a good job except her horrendous Marathi accent. Jia Shankar lands a dream debut. The supporting cast play their parts to perfection especially Ashok Saraf.

Ajay-Atul’s music is the soul of this film. The title song is a sure shot chartbuster. The action is not as much one would expect. The twist towards the end takes the film to a whole another level in terms of emotional appeal. All in all, VED is yet another exciting Box Office Blockbuster filled with all the elements led by one and only Riteish Deshmukh.
