Plot:

A retired couple starts a happiness centre named Sanjya Chhaya with a bunch of friends helping people by giving a ‘mantra’ to enjoy life, that too playfully and not with serious faces.

Review:

The very supreme pair of writer Prashant Dalvi and director Chandrakant Kulkarni who have proven themselves as the best in the industry are back again with a slice of life heartfelt play ‘Sanjya Chhaya’.

We have the king and queen of comedy playing the lead pair, Vaibhav Mangle as Sanjay Patil and Nirmiti Sawant as Chhaya Patil. The first act starts off with a slow pace introducing us to the leads. Sanjay is a retired vice secretary of Maharashtra Govt and Chhaya runs a tiffin service for students. The couple in their retired phase of life have opened up a happiness centre where they help needy people free of cost and try to spread as much happiness as they can. This is how the play goes on teaching us the mantra to face every problem with a wide smile.

The second act picks up the pace pretty quickly and is more fun than the first one. The direction by Chandrakant Kulkarni is something really smart and intriguing. No one, I repeat no one, does it better than him in the industry currently. Prashant Dalvi’s dialogues are really heartwarming and at times will force you to shed a tear or two. The background music is on point. The set is structured pretty well and used smartly.

Everything about this play is just serene. Pertaining to the target audience of 60 plus retired people, the play strikes a chord right into their heart. The audience around me laughed their guts out and the standing ovation for about 2 minutes at the end was the least we could do.

‘Sanjya Chhaya’ will be back in Pune to make you laugh and cry very soon. The perfect treat for your family and parents.
