A Mead That Feels Like Maharashtra
Hik! Meadery is India’s first meadery to commercially launch a mead in Karvanda flavour called Kadak Karvanda.
In Maharashtra, Karvanda, often lovingly referred as Kaali Maina, is not just a berry! It’s nostalgia. The nostalgia takes you back to your childhood summers where you picked and ate those berries from the thorny shrubs. Like they say, some flavours don’t just taste good, they bring back memories. This mead has exactly the same feeling.
What Makes HIK! Meadery Different
HIK! Meadery has been quietly building some of the most unique mead flavours in India. What really makes them stand out is their approach of not using artificial flavouring, preservatives, or external carbonation. Instead of extracts or syrups, they use the real fruit itself. Whole ingredients. Real fermentation. Honest flavours.
This stubbornness to stay authentic is exactly what makes their meads different.
The Story Behind Karvanda Mead
For those unfamiliar, Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages in the world, traditionally made using honey, fermentation, and natural flavours.
At HIK! Meadery, Amar Shrivastava, the visionary brewer behind the brand, believed Karvanda deserved a modern comeback. Not as a candy flavour. Not as an artificial syrup. But in its most real form. This thought became the beginning of HIK! Karvanda Mead.
More Than Just a Drink
What makes this story special is that it goes beyond the bottle. HIK! Meadery directly procures Karvanda from farmers and local harvesters. They buy the whole lot without bargaining on the price. This decision has started giving real value to a fruit that was otherwise ignored commercially.
The intention is not just about making a new flavour of alcohol. It’s about supporting local cultivation, encouraging harvesting, and creating demand for native ingredients from Maharashtra.
A New Chapter Begins on 24th May
After tastings and months of experimentation, HIK! Karvanda Mead officially launches on 24th May.
And you’ll find it across bars and taprooms in Pune!
