But rarely do we get a chance to indulge in the original Khandeshi dishes in Pune. For those who are new to this food culture, this cuisine comes from Khandesh region in Northern Maharashtra which consists of Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon districts. The overall culture of this region is quite different from the other regional cuisines from Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p>When we found out of <strong>Khandesh Junction<\/strong> located in <strong>Narayan Peth<\/strong> serving the OG khana of this region, we had to try it out! Their signature <strong>Shev Bhaji<\/strong>, <strong>Patodi Rassa<\/strong>, <strong>Pithla Bhakri<\/strong> and the unmissable <strong>Khandeshi Vangyache Bharit<\/strong> are to be tried at Khandesh Junction. All dishes here are cooked using the traditional methods only and without any compromise on the recipes.<\/p>\n<p>The Brinjals for the Bharit come directly from Jalgaon and they are roasted on open coal fire. The same are pounded in a wooden pot and the rest of the ingredients follow. We tried <strong>Vangyache Bharit<\/strong> and <strong>Shev Bhaji<\/strong> with their specialty <strong>Kalanachi Bhakri<\/strong>. The flavours are rich but rustic at the same time. Smoky Bharit combined with handmade Bhakris makes for a divine bite! Shev Bhaji carries the signature spices and ambudant use of chilli. This one is not for the faint hearted and packs quite a tasty punch on your palate!<\/p>\n<p>The use of spring onion and peanuts is very evident in their dishes and that brings a different texture to the whole meal. This is the specialty of Khandeshi cuisine. It is spicy, rustic, nutty, fresh, smoky, and full of fresh flavours!<\/p>\n<p>The location attracts a lot of working and student customers as that area is a hub of commercial activities and coaching institutes.
